Charlie Brown’s Teacher

Remember the last time you had a conversation with someone and walked away thinking “They didn’t hear a word I said”?
My lips were moving and they heard words strung together but nothing was resonating.

Sometimes, it brings us to our knees and we feel like just yelling “Helllloooo???? If you would just listen before preparing a response, we may actually enter into communication here.”  …. or maybe it’s just me.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
If we speak and the listener doesn’t understand (or agree), have we still spoken?

Talking to my father on the phone yesterday was an exercise in patience. I attempted no less than 4 different ways of communicating my thoughts and, with each attempt,  I believe he heard something that equates to Charlie Brown’s teacher.

Sometimes, it is what it is.

Sometimes, we just have to accept that we’ve spoken and maybe something stuck…. maybe it didn’t.

Sometimes, 2 people are so cemented in their thoughts and ideals that moving from that place is next to impossible.

And we love them anyway. And they love us anyway. Because it just is what it is.

Romans 14:1

Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.

Romans 14:4

Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? They are responsible to the Lord, so let him judge whether they are right or wrong. And with the Lord’s help, they will do what is right and will receive his approval.

Be Blessed!
I love you, dad.  🙂
