Today is happy for me ~ for one thing, my son is coming home from school for the Gasparilla weekend (that’s another story). I get to feed him his favorites, make his room nice and welcoming (and cleaner than the one at school), and see him when he wakes up in the morning. Just like old times.
Today is also sad for me. My daughter, who is going to school fulltime, is married to a man who just suffered a blow at the hands of the economic situation in this country. Layoffs. It’s an all too common word across the nation, but in the midwest where the blue collar workers are the backbone of the workforce, it’s statistically worse than other areas.
I was proud of my girl, in the midst of being upset and worried, she took the time to post a request for prayer on her Facebook page. Yes!! And the outpouring from friends and family came, replying that they would all keep her and her husband in prayer. I really hope they meant it.
When you tell someone that you’ll keep them in prayer, please do. Write their prayer request down; jot it in your daytimer, type it in your SmartPhone, whatever it takes to remember them when you stop to pray during the day.
A promise to pray is no small thing; sometimes, it’s all we can do.
