Down time! Rest! Unplug! (not sure I can do the unplug part~ but maybe less plugged in?)
Vacations are extraordinary no matter the destination but when you are going to one of your favorite places, the beach, the anticipation is palpable.
The sand, waves, seagulls, and smell of the salt air are intoxicating to me. Unlike vacations for Christmas or skiing or exploring a city you’ve never been to, the beach is consistent. I know what to expect there; the sounds and sights.
Early mornings will bring quiet with freshly raked sand, abandoned sand castles, forgotten toys, joggers and admirers of sunrises.
Afternoons will be spent smelling the coconut of tanning lotion, the sightings of snowbirds who forgot sunscreen, watching children who evolve from carefree to crabby as fatigue sets in. Oh, so predictable…so what I need.
And sunsets ~ there is nothing like a sunset at the beach. God’s gift to us ~ the ability to watch a glowing ball recede beyond the horizon, signifying a completion of another day.
To be able to share this with the people I love most in the world is a special favor from above.
See you tomorrow, beach!
