Want the good news or the bad?  I always want the bad first so the last thing I hear is the good. Maybe I fool myself into thinking I’ll just forget about the bad because the good will be so amazing. I’ll have to think on that.

Anyway, today is my first 5k! I imagine I’ll get this really cool number to safety pin on my shirt and I’ll look amazingly official. I’ll look ready to dart down the streets as soon as the race begins and cross the finish line with a disappointing sigh, like “Was that all there was to it? Or was that just a warm-up?” I’ll look like I’m going to run this thing from start to finish. Okay, here’s the bad news.

I’m probably going to power walk rather than run. I haven’t been running (aka learning to run) since I started cross training at Body Fit Boot Camp. Also, I’ve been fighting off a bout of bronchitis all week. (By the way, thanks for returning old friend. It’s been a year since our last visit and I’ve missed you so).

Good news??

  • It’s beautiful outside. The cold front really resulted in cooler air and not just less HOT air.
  • My friends and hubby are joining me! Apparently when I announced a few months ago that I was going to do this, they wanted to hold me accountable. Or they couldn’t believe I was going to actually sweat. Or they wanted to just hang out on a Friday night in Ybor. Or they wanted the 1905 salad that is promised at the end of the race… I think we all know the most logical answer. The 1905 wins hands down.
  • 100% of the Proceeds will benefit the Advanced Prostate Cancer Collaboration (APCC) at Moffitt Cancer Center
  • I get a t-shirt!! So instead of wearing W’s old triathlon shirts and looking cool, this one is actually mine!

Whatever the reason, it promises to be a good time hanging with some of my favorite people. That’s my idea of an awesome way to spend Friday evening!!
