It’s really never a good idea for me to begin writing at 11pm ~ I’m a morning person. I do my best reasoning and my best thinking while the coffee is brewing and the day lies ahead before me. However… tonight, a particularly arduous day behind me, I’m finding it difficult to fall asleep. When this happens and the thoughts are on static display in my brain, sleep is far removed.
The question: Can we ever put too much faith in someone? Is it possible to believe in someone’s words so much so that we are blinded? Well…of course it is. It’s been my life’s motto to make this mistake time and time again.
Our past does not have to dictate our future. Therefore, someone else’s past does not have to dictate their future. Makes perfect sense. Every day offers a brand new opportunity and we can all be whomever we choose to be ~ why, then, do so many choose to be who they were yesterday?
No one strives to be cynical. I did read an interesting quote, though, and am wondering this morning (yes, I have now slept) whether there is validity to this. It read “Reality is often called cynicism by those who refuse to believe it.”
There is always room in my heart to wipe another slate clean but I’ve learned that by doing so, I’m open to the potential disappointment. Now, differently than in the past, I ask God to help me discern those relationships and whether they are good for me so I have placed my faith in Him. Yes, we can put too much faith in a person ~ want things for them more than they want it for themselves. The good news is that we can never put too much faith in God and He will guide us if we listen.
