I’m a little suspicious of people who don’t own an animal.
Yes, if there is anyone who knows what a nuisance and inconvenience they can be at times, that would be me. The housebreaking, the chewing, the whining, the upset tummies, the expense and, yes, even the occasional severe water damage.  🙂   If you missed THAT post, I invite you to take a peek back to Roscoe’s glory days of puppyhood documented in a post from 5/12/10, complete with photos.
So while it is true that my numerous pets over the years have provided chaos, they’ve also provided sweet memories. Each with their own personality and quirky mannerisms, each with their own likes and dislikes, their own prejudices (yep, sadly) and their own triumphant milestones…they enrich our lives and drive us crazy all at the same time. Sound like some 2 legged people you know?

The latest addition to our family (well, not really family but close enough) is Myla. She is an adorable 2 month old pit bull rescued by my sons girlfriend last week. Have you ever seen anything so cute in your life?

Myla

It’s too early to discern much about her personality except that she isn’t intimidated by her older “brother”, Roscoe, in the slightest. He outweighs her by about 57 pounds and she doesn’t seem to notice. I like her spunk.

The introduction

The introduction went well and Roscoe is, I suspect, going to guard his little sister from all enemies foreign and domestic.

The comings and goings of these extended family members have not gone unnoticed by permanent residents, Wally and Kahlua. One can nearly SEE them roll their eyes when yet another dog shows up, as if to say “Seriously? You’re kidding with this, right?” Since Roscoe has been living here since early May, they’ve reluctantly accepted his presence. They are neither thrilled nor annoyed at this point though I suspect they’ll secretly “high five” one another when the door shuts behind him as he heads back to FSU with my son at some point this summer.

So, yeah, I’m a little suspicious of those people who don’t share their lives with a furry friend (oh, and for the record, turtles, fish and snakes don’t count as pets).  You’re missing more than shredded toilet paper and noseprints on the sliding glass door. You’re missing out on sharing life.
