As I’m typing away with windows open, cool air wafting through the windows, I am not oblivious to the devastation that our northern friends are suffering today. A hurricane that has caused Wall Street to quiet, the subways to come to a complete halt, cars to float down Manhattan streets and families left sitting in the dark. A hurricane in NYC~ it’s almost unfathomable to a Florida girl.
I have a sister who owns a restaurant in North Carolina’s beautiful Outer Banks and she is riding another storm out, posting pictures of the damage thus far to Kitty Hawk. Every year…somewhere in this country and on this globe, nature has its say and shows us how little we control, despite our thinking we are in control of much.

On this particular morning, I’m so happy for a respite to humidity and rain. I’m so happy to have windows and doors flung open and allowing fresh air to circulate happily in a home stale with air conditioning.  The dogs have a little skip to their step, lazily lounging on the lanai, enjoying birds flying by and occasionally growling at a distant noise before drifting back to a nap in the sun. This seasonal change brings about better moods as we shift into the holiday season and I welcome it with arms opened WIDE every year. Welcome, Autumn!

Did you know the bible refers to seasons many times? That tells me that I’m not the only one who cares about changing times and shifting weather!

Ecclesiastes 3:1  There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens

Genesis 8:22  “As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.”

Psalms 104:19   He made the moon to mark the seasons,
and the sun knows when to go down.

Daniel 2:21   He changes times and seasons;
he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.

We are meant to welcome the seasonal changes, embrace the seasonal changes and sometimes endure the season changes.  Wherever you are, I pray that you safe and happy. One thing is for certain…this season will change again.

Be blessed,
Amy
