I’ve grown weary, friends. Not the kind of weary that a “good nights sleep” can  cure or a cup of  really strong coffee can remedy, unfortunately. It’s the weariness that comes from knocking our heads against a wall. Again and again.

Do you ever do that? You know the outcome will be the same but you try and try and then you finally collapse into a big ball of wearied failure, throwing your hands up in the air like you’re surprised of the outcome.
Sure you do. We do it with jobs, we do it with friendships, with children, and with difficult family members. We do it with addictions, too. We tend to think that this one final attempt will be the difference maker~ this ONE last hurrah will be the last.

We’re a hopeful bunch, aren’t we?  I, for one, think that’s a good thing. Without hope, what is there?  However, consider this for a moment. Albert Einstein (smart guy from what I hear) said that “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”   Guilty as charged. Do you know why? Because I convince myself that trying one more time might be the one time that something different happens.  I also convince myself that if I stop trying, I might miss that opportunity……..the problem is that I can’t find an end to the “one more try” faith.

Trying isn’t the problem. Ending the trying is the problem.

In all times of weariness, I go to God and ask for help. What am I supposed to do now? Keep trying or quit and walk away? And here’s the tricky part. If He is your “go-to”, then you have to listen to what He says and do it. Keep trying or quit and walk away.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

So, yes, I’m pretty weary but I still have hope…. in something I can count on. In Him. All other things will take care of themselves.

Oh…one more thing. Go vote. It’s a privilege.

Be blessed, friends!
