For the most part, I avoid political Facebook posts. To be honest, it’s partly because I am soured on the whole corrupt process and partly because if someone is posting a political viewpoint on Facebook, they really care… and maybe I really don’t. I DO care but I don’t care enough to weigh in whether I disagree or not. That’s ambivalence but I prefer to call it respecting someones opinion and leaving it at that.
I posted a photo a couple of days ago that ended up being pretty political and sparked some emotions from both sides of the fence. This confederate flag has been proudly flown for years near Brandon, FL and has found its fair share of controversy.
What thought do you have as you see it for the 1st time? For me, if I’m honest (and I will always strive to be honest here), I see a dark period in US history. I tend to think that most (not all) people who display this are “good ole boys”. I’m not personally offended but I’m completely understanding of those who are.
Is it UN-American? Does it widen the divide between regions or between races? Are people just being too sensitive? Are some people poking their neighbors in the chest while others are squashing free speech?
Here’s my take. If flying this flag means southern pride and all things good and wholesome to you, run it up the pole and let her wave because it is your right to do so. Then again, just because I have a right to do something that is widely offensive, is it always prudent? Is it always necessary? Is it ever necessary?
Is this even TRUE?
Be blessed,
Amy
